recipe: pu'er oatmeal

A hearty serving of oatmeal is always our go-to way to start the day. Oats are a great source for vitamins, minerals, fibers and antioxidants. But, oats themselves are sadly quite boring. To spice things up, we usually add dried fruits, a variety of seeds, spices and fresh fruits - all with their own nutrition superpowers.

We experimented with swapping out the hot water used for oatmeal with brewed tea, and the flavor blew us away! We like to pre-make the dried mix, to make mornings even easier. There are endless variations to this easy, quick and extraordinarily healthy breakfast, here's our most recent go-to.

SERVINGS: 2 / TOTAL TIME: 20 minutes

  • 2 brew cups of Bulang Raw tea

  • 1 cup oats

  • 1/2 tsp chia seeds

  • 1/2 tsp maca powder

  • small handful of raisins or craisins

  • handful of blueberries

  • 1/2 an apple cut into small cubes

  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder

  • Prepare the tea: Brew 2 cups (16 ounces) of Bulang Raw

  • Put the brewed tea into a saucepan and bring to a low boil

  • Add fresh fruits (blueberries and apple cubes) to the water for 2 minutes

  • Add oats, seeds, dried fruits and spices to the pan and lower heat to a simmer

  • Stir frequently and let the oats absorb the tea and soften the other ingredients

  • Remove from heat when it looks thick and fluffy (around 10 minutes) and serve

  • Feel free to add more fresh fruit to the top to add a little temperature difference and texture

  • Enjoy with a cup of Bulang Raw!
