genmaicha green tea

Origin: Fujieda City, Shizuoka, Japan / Harvest: May 2018 / Elevation: 1150 feet

Why We Love It: Genmaicha has become a widely loved tea of teahouses, restaurants and community gatherings, often referred to as ‘brown rice tea’ or ‘popcorn tea’. This is a special example of the popular tea, as it is made from high quality, organic spring flush sencha, with locally-grown, organic rice. Its quality gives it a more rich, savory taste that is unmistakeable, and down right addicting.

We Taste: Toasted rice, sweet, nuts

How We Brew It: Steep 7 grams in 6 ounces of 180F water for 1 minute. Can re-steep 2-3 times with shorter infusions. Be sure to shake every drop out of each infusion when pouring.
